East Shore Park Project

East Shore Park

In 2021 the Trust facilitated an asset transfer of East Shore park, the home of the Newburgh Juniors Football Club from Fife Council to Newburgh Community Trust. The club approached the Trust to act in it's capacity as an umbrella group to acquire the ground and secure the future of the club, which was founded in 1887 and has been at East Shore Park since 1910. The reasoning behind the transfer was to strengthen the bond between the club and the local community, helping to foster a sense of identity and feeling of belonging to the town. There are also practical benefits to owning the ground, allowing access to other groups such as the primary school and other clubs (the terms of the lease from Fife Council did not allow this)

The cost of the football ground was £10,000, the Trust secured a 100% grant from the Scottish Land Fund. There were other costs associated with the asset transfer – a surveyors valuation and the legal fees totalling £2200, which were met by Newburgh Community Trust.

From 2024 the rental income from the club is mostly (93%) returned back to them. The club itself are responsible for the insurance and maintenance of the ground and boundaries.
